Founded by DD Palmer in 1895, the Greek word "chiro" means "hand" and "platykos" means "skill", and the word "chiropractic" combines these two to mean "skill by human hands".

It is said that after correcting the spine of a deaf servant, his hearing was restored. From this, Palmer realized that a misaligned back can cause various symptoms, and he systematized a method of correcting them.

Modern chiropractic began in the United States in 1895.

Currently, in addition to the United States, where it originated, it has been legalized in approximately 40 countries around the world.

Chiropractors are positioned as health care professionals.
